Tin Shui Wai Hospital commences A&E services
********************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

Tin Shui Wai Hospital (TSWH) will commence daily eight-hour Accident and Emergency (A&E) services with effect from 8am tomorrow (March 15) in order to provide a more comprehensive healthcare service for residents in the Tin Shui Wai district and areas nearby.

In the initial phase, the eight-hour A&E services of TSWH will be open from 8am to 4pm daily with an estimated attendance of 150 to 200 per day. The Hospital Chief Executive of TSWH, Dr Deacons Yeung, said the TSWH A&E department is the third A&E department in New Territories West Cluster. This new service point will not only provide convenience to Tin Shui Wai residents, but also share the workload of both Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) and Pok Oi Hospital (POH).

"According to our statistics, among the daily attendance at the A&E departments of TMH and POH, around 250 are residents of Tin Shui Wai and around half attended the service between 8am and 4pm. Therefore, after service commencement of the TSWH A&E department, it is estimated that around 50 per cent of Tin Shui Wai residents who require emergency medical service could be covered," Dr Yeung said.

Located at 11 Tin Tan Street, TSWH commenced service in phases from January 9 this year and specialist out-patient clinic, renal dialysis, allied health, diagnostic radiology, pharmacy and community nursing services have been put into operation.
