CS attends WKCDA press conference on launch of public consultation on Hong Kong Palace Museum (with photo/video)
******************************************************************************************
The Chief Secretary for Administration and Chairman of the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), Mrs Carrie Lam, was joined by members of the core group in preparation for the development of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, including the Chief Executive Officer of the WKCDA, Mr Duncan Pescod; Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Betty Fung; the Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (Culture), Dr Louis Ng; and former Deputy Director of Architectural Services, Mr Stephen Tang, today (January 10) at a WKCDA press conference on the launch of the public consultation on Hong Kong Palace Museum to address recent public comments and concerns about the development of the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD).

Mrs Lam said that although she gave a full account of the process and considerations leading to the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the WKCD at the Special Meeting of the House Committee of the Legislative Council on January 6, the WKCDA was aware of diverse remarks and comments from the community on the project and the process over the weekend. The WKCDA considered it necessary to address the public concerns as soon as possible, or it might divert the attention of the people from the public consultation.

She further explained at the press conference the preparation of the project, including site selection, the appointment of the design consultant and the need of confidentiality. The detailed response from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the WKCDA to public concerns and opinions with respect to this project is available in the attachment.
