Hong Kong Arts Development Council nomination exercise voting figures

     A total of 2,456 voters (provisional figure) cast their votes in the exercise on the nomination of representatives of arts interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) in 2016 during the two days of polling which ended at 10pm today (November 28). The voter turnout rate was 41.9 per cent.

     The ballots are being counted at the counting station in Mong Kok Community Hall, L2, Mong Kok Complex, 557 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok. The final voting results will be announced once available.

     A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau said the list of nominated representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration of appointment to the HKADC. Members of the HKADC will assist in the planning, promotion and support of the broad development of the arts in Hong Kong. The new term will start on January 1, 2017.

     Cross-arts interest voting has continued to be adopted this year. Voters from the 10 arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the six contested arts interests for this year's nomination exercise, i.e. Arts Administration, Dance, Drama, Literary Arts, Music and Visual Arts.
