HKCPEC Youth Programme premiere and award presentation ceremony
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC):

Five teams selected under the HKCPEC Youth Programme co-organised by the HKCPEC and Roundtable Education and Global Development Unit will present their videos at a premiere and award presentation ceremony at 10.15am on July 2 (Saturday) at Theatre 3, 1/F, Hong Kong Productivity Council Building, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony. Those interested in attending are invited to enrol with the HKCPEC Secretariat by 5pm on June 29. For enquiries, please contact the HKCPEC Secretariat on 2398 5449 or 2398 5594.

The Secretary General of the HKCPEC, Miss Monica Chen, and the Director of Roundtable Education, Mr Jacky Fung, will officiate at the ceremony.

The HKCPEC Youth Programme aims at advancing understanding among the youth community on Hong Kong's role and contribution to trade and economic development and co-operation in the Asia Pacific region; and increasing their knowledge, developing their analytical skills and encouraging their strategic thinking in the process of the participation.

Participating teams, under either the secondary category or the open category, were required to produce a video on themes related to regional economic development and co-operation, under titles including Aspiration for Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP); Supporting SMEs; Anti-Corruption Co-operation; Prevention of Natural Disasters and Climate Change; Improvement of (physical, institutional and/or people) Connectivity; and Next Generation: a thriving Hong Kong in Asia Pacific in 2050.

The two winning teams will be invited to join a six-day study tour to Busan and Seoul, Korea, in late August. The winning videos will be uploaded to the HKCPEC's website at www.hkcpec.org after the ceremony.

The HKCPEC was established in March 1990 to co-ordinate Hong Kong's participation in the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC). In line with the nature of the PECC, the composition of the HKCPEC is tripartite, comprising members from the Government, the business sector and academia.

The PECC is a non-governmental organisation set up in 1980 to develop closer co-operation in trade and economic issues among economies in the region.

Currently, the PECC has 26 member committees, of which 23 are full members. For details, please visit the PECC's website at www.pecc.org/about/member-committees.
