The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesman for Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) made the following announcement today (May 13) regarding an incident of water seepage in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) control room due to the bursting of the MRI cooling water pipe on the ceiling.

The MRI equipment-cooling water pipe on the ceiling of the MRI control room was found ruptured, with water seepage in the area, at 4pm yesterday (May 12). Emergency repair and cleaning were immediately arranged by the hospital. During the occurrence, no patient underwent an MRI examination.

As the repair of the equipment-cooling water pipe and a technical examination of the MRI machine are being carried out, the MRI service is currently suspended, and is expected to resume normal service next Wednesday (May 18). From today till May 17, a total of 27 non-urgent patients who were scheduled to have MRI examinations during the said period will be re-scheduled to a later date. If any patient requires an urgent MRI examination, the hospital will arrange for them to go to North District Hospital or Prince of Wales Hospital for examination according to the established mechanism.

The hospital would like to extend a deep apology to the affected patients for any inconvenience caused.
