Lecture series to give overview of growth and development of Chinese dance in Hong Kong
************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold a lecture series on Chinese dance entitled "The Stories of Chinese Dance in Hong Kong", to be held from June to August with veteran dance teacher Ms Enid Chung as the speaker.

"The Stories of Chinese Dance in Hong Kong" consists of four thematic lectures and four workshops. In addition to the usual practice of video-aided lecturing, a number of experienced Hong Kong Chinese dance practitioners will share at the lectures stories of Chinese dance development in Hong Kong.

During the dance workshops, participants will have the opportunity to experience Chinese dance training including energetic ethnic group dance and the basic techniques of new-style dance that were once all the rage, led by the above-mentioned Chinese dance practitioners.

Ms Enid Chung (former name Chung Ching) has been teaching dance for 30 years. She holds a Master of Literature degree in Dance History from the Chinese National Academy of Art and a Master's degree in Cultural Studies from Lingnan University. She is currently an Examiner (Dance) of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association, the Director of the Enid Chung Integrated Arts Center, and founder and Director of the Hong Kong Contemporary Youth Dancers. Over the years, she has been invited to give many talks on Chinese dance culture and dance workshops. Since 1995, Ms Chung has been a lecturer and instructor of dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and other tertiary institutions.
