The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) strives to provide a wide range of activities in its shopping centres to enhance business operations and provision of service to residents. The HA will enhance promotions in its shopping centres for the upcoming Mother's Day with a view to expressing gratitude to mothers and enhancing the popularity of the shopping facilities.

"On Mother's Day (May 8), residents may visit the HA's Ping Shek, Lei Muk Shue, Mei Tin, Tin Yan, Ching Long, Choi Tak and Yau Lai Shopping Centres to write down and post up a 'Message to Dear Mother', they can bring mothers and family members along for great family fun," a spokesman for the HA said today (May 2).

There will be booth games and clown acrobatics/magic shows from 11am to 4pm at Ping Shek, Lei Muk Shue, Mei Tin and Tin Yan Shopping Centres on Mother's Day, while there will be hand-twisted balloons given away by clowns at Ching Long, Hoi Lai, Choi Tak and Kwai Chung Shopping Centres. Mothers visiting these eight HA shopping centres may also receive free fresh flowers, art flowers or cookies from noon to 2pm.

In the afternoon on May 7 (Saturday) and 8 (Sunday), shoppers may redeem small gifts at Ching Long, Hoi Lai, On Kay, Choi Tak, Kwai Chung, Tin Yan, Lei Muk Shue, Ping Shek, Mei Tin, Siu Hong and Nam Shan Shopping Centres. Shoppers may wish to note the redemption of small gifts is subject to spending requirements and quotas on a first-come, first-served basis.

The HA's Commercial Properties Committee earlier endorsed the continuation of the parking coupon discount scheme for the HA's shop tenants with a bulk purchase discount of 20 per cent for 50 parking coupons or its multiples to boost patronage. The scheme has been popular among shop tenants, and in the past two years a total of about 46 600 coupons were sold.

The spokesman also said that to encourage visits to HA shopping centres, free parking subject to spending requirements is provided to shoppers at the HA's regional mall at Yau Tong, Domain, and Yau Lai Shopping Centre. Details of free parking are available at the shopping centres.
