LegCo President meets with Speaker of Hungarian National Assembly (with photos)

     The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Jasper Tsang, continued his visit in Hungary yesterday (April 6).

     In the morning, Mr Tsang called on the Governor of the Hungarian National Bank, Dr György Matolcsy.  They discussed potential opportunities for Hong Kong and Hungary to deepen their economic relationship.

     Mr Tsang then attended a working lunch hosted by the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, Mr László Kövér.  Mr Tsang and Mr Kövér discussed the development of parliamentary politics in Hong Kong and Hungary, and exchanged views on common issues facing the presiding member of both Legislatures.

     After the working lunch, Mr Tsang toured the Hungarian Parliament Building and visited the Museum of the History of the Hungarian Parliament.

     To conclude his visit in Hungary today (April 7), Mr Tsang remarked that the visit was fruitful in strengthening the relationship and cooperation between the Legislatures of Hong Kong and Hungary.

     During his four-day visit to Budapest in Hungary, Mr Tsang visited the Hungarian National Assembly and met with the Speaker, the Deputy of the Speaker and other members of the parliament.  He also held meetings with several senior government officials.

     During the trip, Mr Tsang paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, Mr Duan Jielong.

     Mr Tsang gave a lecture at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University to over 50 students and faculty on "Implementation of 'one country, two systems' in Hong Kong".  

     Mr Tsang expressed gratitude to the Hungarian National Assembly for the invitation and the warm hospitality extended to him throughout the trip.  He also thanked the Consulate General of Hungary in Hong Kong and Macao; and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin for helping arrange the visit.
