A new set of TV and radio Announcements in the Public Interest (APIs) entitled "There are Always More Solutions than Problems - Love Yourself, Love Your Family", produced by the Social Welfare Department (SWD), started broadcast at TV and radio stations today (March 18), with the radio API to be aired in different languages (Cantonese, English and Mandarin).
Three celebrities who have faced and overcome difficult times were invited to be featured in the TV API, namely artiste Charlene Tse, who has gone through divorce; 2015 Bowling World Cup champion Wu Siu-hong, who has recovered from cancer; and artist Yeung Siu-fong, who lost her upper limbs in childhood in an accident. Drawing on their own experiences, they appeal to people and encourage them to adopt a positive attitude when facing adversities in life, and to talk to their families and friends or approach professionals for help when they need it.
The TV API was uploaded earlier this week to the YouTube channels of the SWD (www.youtube.com/swdipru) and the Information Services Department (www.youtube.com/isdgovhk).
An SWD spokesman said that the SWD has all along been assisting individuals and families to prevent or cope with problems, and for those who cannot resolve their problems by themselves, the department provides a range of preventive, supportive and remedial services.
