Government proposes to expand Sha Tau Kok Sewage Treatment Works

     For the expansion of Sha Tau Kok Sewage Treatment Works, the Government intends to carry out the following proposed works within an area of approximately 12.08 hectares of foreshore and seabed at Starling Inlet (Sha Tau Kok Hoi):
 
(i) modification of the existing submarine outfall and diffuser;
 
(ii) construction of a new submarine outfall of about 1,700 metres in length; and
 
(iii) erection of a temporary works area at the end section of the new submarine outfall to facilitate excavation and construction of the diffuser.

     The proposed works are scheduled to commence in late 2017 and be completed by late 2021.

     The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published today (March 18) in the Government Gazette (www.gld.gov.hk/egazette/pdf/20162011/egn201620111554.pdf).

     The notice, together with its related plan, has been posted on notice boards near the site. The plan can also be seen at the following locations:

* Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office (23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong) (where copies can be purchased on order);

* Public Enquiry Service Centre, North District Office (G/F, North District Government Offices, 3 Pik Fung Road, Fanling, New Territories); and
 
* Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk) under Government Notices.

     Any person who considers that he or she has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong by May 18, 2016.
