"Sai Kung Art and About" to be held this weekend

     Sai Kung's first ever street art fair, "Sai Kung Art and About", will be held from 11am to 6pm this weekend (March 19 and 20) in Sai Kung Town Centre, offering free art and entertainment programmes for members of the public.

     The event aims to promote art and creativity by providing a platform for artists to showcase their artworks in an outdoor public area and exchange views with visitors. More than 60 talented artists will gather at Mei Yuen Street, the open area outside Tin Hau Temple and Sai Kung Waterfront Park, Sai Kung to display their artworks in different media, styles and techniques.

     Artists will introduce their artworks at the booths and exchange ideas with visitors. In the pastel drawing zone, participants will be able to express their creative ideas with pavement artworks. Other activities, including seminars, workshops, an outdoor gallery walk, an art exhibition and a mural painting demonstration will also be staged for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages. Free DIY souvenirs will also be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

     The opening ceremony of the event will be jointly held by the Sai Kung District Council, the Sai Kung District Office and the Sai Kung District Community Centre at 2pm on Saturday (March 19) outside the Sai Kung District Community Centre Jockey Club Integrated Services Centre. Officiating guests at the ceremony will be the Chairman of Sai Kung District Council, Mr George Ng; District Officer (Sai Kung), Ms Maureen Siu; originator of the art fair and co-ordinator for artists, Mr Tony Cheng; the Chairman of Hang Hau Rural Committee, Mr Sing Hon-keung; the First Vice-Chairman of Sai Kung Rural Committee, Mr Cheung To-shing; and well-known local architect, designer and ink-painter, Professor Raymond Fung.
