Over 900 young musicians to perform in Joint Concerts of Music Office Bands and Orchestras

     Over 900 young musicians from 13 bands and orchestras will jointly perform a widely selected repertoire at four concerts to be presented by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in April and May.

     The first concert, featuring the Hong Kong Children's Symphonic Band, the Hong Kong Junior Chamber Ensemble and the Music Office Junior Chinese Orchestra, will be held at 3pm on April 4 (Monday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Under the batons of conductors Desmond Tse, Au Wai-see, Tiffany Lau, Li Sai-hong, Tsui Ying-fai and Cheung Hiu-fai, the musicians will perform a variety of music including the triumphant march "Step by Step", the passionate "Hungarian Dance No. 5" by Brahms and the traditional Chinese classic "The General's Command of Sichuan".

     The second concert, to be performed by the Kowloon Youth Symphonic Band, the Music Office Youth Brass Band and the New Territories Youth Symphonic Band, will be held at 3pm on April 17 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre. An array of works including Bill Whelan's "Riverdance" arranged by Strommen, Vangelis's "1492 The Conquest of Paradise" arranged by Mortimer and "When She Loved Me" from Disney's animation "Toy Story 2", will be performed under the batons of conductors Hanson Tsang, Kevin Ling, Palas Chan, Yeung Tak-man, Henry Cheng and Lee Sing-wan.

     The third concert, showcasing Chinese orchestras will be held on May 8 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Shatin Town Hall, while the fourth concert, featuring strings, will be held on May 15 (Sunday) at the Theatre of Ko Shan Theatre. Tickets will be available one month before the concert dates.
