Yanbian Song and Dance Troupe to perform Korean show in March
********************************************************

Yanbian Song and Dance Troupe's Korean show "Arirang of Mount Paektu" will be staged in March. The performance is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Featuring a variety of Korean songs and dances, this production focuses on the harmony between humans and nature. The show was presented at the Mainland's 60th anniversary celebrations in Beijing and at the Shanghai Expo 2010.

Situated in China's southern Jilin Province near the Chinese-North Korea border, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is home to beautiful natural landscapes, including the famous Mount Paektu, that change through the seasons. Heavily influenced by the charm and traditions of neighbouring North Korea, Yanbian Song and Dance Troupe was founded in 1946, and is acclaimed in the Mainland for the quality of its Korean performing arts and its contribution to the development of ethnic arts and culture. The Troupe has frequently performed at nationwide celebrations and cultural performances, winning national awards including the Wenhua Award presented by the Ministry of Culture and the Grand Award at the China Arts Festival. It has also toured in North Korea, Korea, Thailand, Japan, the United States, Macau and elsewhere.

"Arirang of Mount Paektu" will be staged at 8pm on March 26 (Saturday) and at 3pm on March 27 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced at $120, $170 and $220 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.
