"Art Specialist Course 2015-16 Graduation Exhibition" will be held from tomorrow (January 23) to February 7 at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, showcasing 23 graduates' achievements and sharing their creative ideas with the public.

At the opening party today (January 22), the Assistant Director (Heritage and Museums) of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Chan Shing-wai, said that the Art Specialist Course held by the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre of the Art Promotion Office has completed its 14th year, providing ink painting, calligraphy, painting, ceramics, printmaking and sculpture training for those interested in art creation. During these 14 years, the Art Specialist Course has evolved with the times and adapted to the fast-changing art ecology. Course instructors have continuously injected new elements and innovative ideas into the curriculum, guiding participants to develop their creative path for better integration into the art community.

This year's Art Specialist Course covered two major subjects: painting and printmaking. The printmaking course had Liu Siu-jane as the course co-ordinator and Chung Tai-fu, Chung Wing-man, Liu Cheng-mui, Ma Kwai-shun and Tsang Yuet-kwan as instructors. The painting course had Lam Tung-pang, Tsai Yi-yuan, Tsang Chui-mei, and Wong Yan-kwai as instructors.

The cross-media works on display have been created through painting and printmaking combined with other media and presentation techniques. These works were inspired by artists' personal experience, surroundings, imagination and artistic experiments.

Separately, the new courses for 2016-17 are now open for application. They include ink painting and ceramic art specialist courses, as well as printmaking and painting advanced specialist courses. The deadline for application is February 29.
