Fatal traffic accident in Pat Heung

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Pat Heung yesterday afternoon (December 18) in which two women, one man and a baby girl were killed.

     About 4.40pm yesterday, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 70-year-old man was travelling along Kam Sheung Road towards Kam Tin town and a Public Light Bus (PLB) driven by a 65-year-old man was travelling along northbound Tung Wui Road. When reaching the junction of Kam Sheung Road and Tung Wui Road, the MGV reportedly hits the PLB.

     Four PLB passengers, including two women, one man and a baby girl, aged three months to 58, were certified dead at scene. Other 14 injured persons including the PLB driver, two male and 11 female passengers, aged four to 76, were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital, Pok Oi Hospital and North District Hospital respectively.

     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained pending further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
