*************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Council for Sustainable Development:

The Council for Sustainable Development is now inviting applications for grants from groups and individuals to undertake projects that will raise public awareness of sustainable development and promote sustainable practices in Hong Kong.

A spokesperson for the Council said today (November 30), "A number of priority areas will receive particular consideration in the current round of applications, including projects focusing on promoting sustainable use of biological resources, building a sustainable community, promoting sustainable lifestyles or practices, and sustainability reporting by industries and sectors.  Such projects could help promote sustainable development as well as combat climate change. Other projects that are generally consistent with the overall objectives of the Sustainable Development Fund will also be welcome."

Details of the priority areas and application forms are available at www.enb.gov.hk/en/susdev/sdf. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications via email to sdf@enb.gov.hk. Applications should reach the Sustainable Development Fund Secretariat by 5pm on February 29, 2016.

A briefing session will be held on December 17 at the Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong to brief interested parties on details of the Sustainable Development Fund and points to note in preparing applications. Persons who would like to attend the briefing session are requested to register with the Secretariat at sdf@enb.gov.hk by December 11.
