The annual meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/Technical Committee 176 concluded successfully in Hong Kong today (November 28) following the end of its closing plenary session.
The meeting was held in Hong Kong from November 21 to 28 and hosted by the Innovation and Technology Commission and co-organised by the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
"During the eight-day meeting, experts in Hong Kong attended different meetings and learned about the latest developments of the international standards on quality management, namely the ISO 9000 series of standards. The event promoted knowledge of the standardisation process and relevant accreditation and certification work. The testing and certification sector in Hong Kong has benefited from this meeting," a spokesman for the Innovation and Technology Commission said.
"International delegates also got first-hand knowledge of our testing and certification sector, as well as the opportunities that Hong Kong can offer."
Representatives from about 45 countries and territories, including the Mainland and Hong Kong, as well as over 10 international and regional organisations and other ISO Technical Committees joined the meeting. "The successful hosting of the meeting has demonstrated Hong Kong's unique role as a 'super-connector' in connecting the Mainland and the world, and bringing experts from different places together to work in harmony," the spokesman added.
