Artocrite Theater to stage new play "Bad Time Stories" in December
**********************************************************

Local theatre group Artocrite Theater will stage its new production, "Bad Time Stories", in December as one of the programmes of the New Energy Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

One bed and three different stories provide the background for Artocrite Theater's "Bad Time Stories". Stubbornness makes people lost and obsessed, leading them into despair. An unintentionally pregnant woman enters the operation room to seek a way out of her predicament. She bumps into another pregnant lady, who is waiting for the arrival of her new baby. A wife believes that being patient with her husband can sustain their love. The husband, however, only becomes worse. He hits her, and the wife keeps getting hurt every night. In the same place, a man suffers from depression; he wishes to liberate his mind, but he is troubled by the unpleasant incidents of his past. He does not know what is being trapped ¡V his body or his soul.

"Bad Time Stories" is written by Wong Chiu-yum and directed by Birdy Wong. The cast includes Santayana Li, Tsang Ho-lam, Wong Chiu-yum, Raymond Wan and Kenneth Sze.

Artocrite Theater was founded in 2010 by six graduates who received formal training in acting and traditional theatre from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, which not only provided them with a robust knowledge of theatre, but also the opportunity to experience the various possibilities of theatrical art on a physical as well as mental level. The group aims to explore people and events that are easily forgotten, washed away and marginalised by time, stimulating the audience to reflect on issues presented from various perspectives.

"Bad Time Stories" (in Cantonese) will be performed at 8pm from December 18 to 20 (Friday to Sunday) and at 3pm on December 19 and 20 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Black Box Theatre of Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets priced at $160 (free seating) are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999. For programme enquiries and concessionary schemes, please call 2268 7325 or visit www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/Programme/en/theatre/program_995.html.

The programme contains adult elements, coarse language, violence, frightening scenes, nudity and smoking scenes and is suitable for ages 12 or above.

Highlights of the New Energy Series also include Chuang Dian Theatre's "Caesar" (December 4 to 6) and Haverland's "Light Change" (December 11 to 13).
