CE to attend APEC meeting in the Philippines

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit the Philippines from November 17 to November 19 to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015 Leaders' Week and other related meetings in Manila.

     The theme of this year's meeting is "Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World" with four priorities: (i) enhancing the regional economic integration agenda; (ii) fostering small and medium enterprises' participation in regional and global markets; (iii) investing in human capital development; and (iv) building sustainable and resilient communities.

     On November 17, the Chief Executive will participate in and address a discussion session entitled "What is the Next Horizon for Asia Pacific Trade?" of the APEC CEO Summit. He will attend another discussion session of the Summit on the following day during which President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech.

     On November 19, the Chief Executive will attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. During the APEC meetings, he will also meet with leaders of other member economies and APEC Business Advisory Council members.

     The Chief Executive will depart for Manila in the evening on November 16 and return to Hong Kong in the evening on November 19. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
