Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre showcases artworks created by Professor Charles Kao
***********************************************************

The Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre is holding "From Scientific Discovery to Artistic Creativity: First Solo Exhibition Tour of Artwork by Professor Charles Kao, Father of Fibre Optics" from today (November 4) to November 15, displaying 32 artworks created by Professor Charles Kao.

The exhibition is presented by the Charles K Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease and in collaboration with the Art Promotion Office (APO) under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Renowned worldwide as the "Father of Fibre Optics", Professor Kao was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in recognition of his distinctive contribution to global communications.

After first showing symptoms of Alzheimer's disease a few years ago, Professor Kao has turned his focus to art and gained pleasure from painting. With the aim of supporting Alzheimer's patients and their families and raising public awareness of the debilitating disease, the exhibition will offer visitors insight into how art is colouring the lives of Alzheimer's patients and their caregivers.

For details of the exhibition, please visit the APO's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk/apo or call the Charles K Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease at 2876 2422 for enquiries.

The Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre is located at 7A Kennedy Road, Central. It is open daily from 10am to 9pm and is closed on Tuesdays. Admission is free.
