Opening ceremony for relocated SUCCESS held today (with photos)

     An opening ceremony for the relocated Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) of Trade and Industry Department (TID) in Kowloon East was held today (November 2).

     Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, said, "There is a prevailing phenomenon in which consumers are increasingly expecting instant information, communications and gratification in Hong Kong as well as the world. Many enterprises, especially SMEs and start-ups, which are well known for their versatility, are competing to be 'now-ists' and make things happen fast.

     "To support this new wave of 'now-ist' enterprises, apart from SUCCESS we have different types of initiatives including SME Funding Schemes, Innovation and Technology Fund, CreateSmart Initiative, export credit insurance and more and more incubation programmes and co-work spaces," Mr So said.

     Mr So also took the opportunity to thank business advisors and partner organisations for their valuable contributions and support for the work of SUCCESS in the past.

     The relocated SUCCESS is located at Units 15-18, 23/F, Standard Chartered Tower, Millennium City 1, 388 Kwun Tong Road, Kowloon. Visitors can access the centre from either exit A of MTR Ngau Tau Kok station or exit A2 of MTR Kwun Tong station in a few minutes' walk.

     SUCCESS offers free business information and consultation services to SMEs. On business information, SUCCESS provides:

* information on government licences or permits for running different kinds of business in Hong Kong as well as starting a business;
* a user-friendly website (www.success.tid.gov.hk) for SMEs to look for activities, services and facilities;
* business reference materials through electronic business databases and a reference library;
* a regular publication - "SME Pulse" to provide information on SME topical issues; and
* seminars, workshops and other activities on a regular basis on issues of concern to SMEs.

     On consultation services, SMEs that wish to seek professional or expert advice may apply for our "Meet-the-Advisers" Business Advisory Service or sign up for our SME Mentorship Programme.

     All services provided by SUCCESS are free of charge. It is open to the public from 8.45am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, and closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holiday.
