"Global Island" outdoor concert to be held this Saturday (with photos)
*********************************************************

Four local music groups featuring overseas and homegrown musicians will perform in an outdoor concert entitled "Global Island" this Saturday (October 31) from 3pm to 6pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, delivering a "mix and match" of different cultures through the common language of music. Admission is free.

The four groups are the musical duo Head Clowns, reggae band Sensi Lion, Gregmel & Africana Band and Jazzin' Samba.

Musical duo Head Clowns comprises Mr and Mrs Von Hess, with Joseph Hess on clarinet and Zoe Hess on tenor ukulele and vocals. They play an eclectic mix of songs from Eastern Europe, Russia, France and Latin-America. Their music weaves melodies old and new with their own original compositions, creating eye-opening performances that surprise audiences.

Sensi Lion is the only local reggae band in Hong Kong playing songs in Cantonese. The band believes that everyone is equal and there should be no discrimination based on differences in skin tone or eye colour. Their music seeks to break through any such limitations and to praise love and equality.

Gregmel & Africana Band comprises Gregmel (lead vocals and guitar), Anasco Anaconda (bass guitar), To Be (drums) and Ashlin (guitar). In addition to African, afro-Cuban and French Caribbean music, the band also plays reggae, jazz and pop music.

Jazzin' Samba comprises musicians from different countries and musical backgrounds who share a passion for Brazilian music. Leading the band is Joao Marcos Mascarenhas, an award-winning musician who is also a teacher, composer, arranger and music director. Their repertoire is Brazilian music with vocals, instrumental and a touch of jazz.

"Global Island" is an outdoor programme under the World Cultures Festival 2015 - A Decade of Exquisite Arts, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
