If you want to buy social enterprise (SE) products to help the underprivileged to be self-reliant, you can take action now and support the SE booths at the fourth Hong Kong Food Carnival.
The Home Affairs Department (HAD) has arranged for five SEs to take part in the Hong Kong Food Carnival, which will be held from Saturday (October 31) at the Kwai Chung Sports Ground.
The five SEs will showcase a variety of food products, including cookies, desserts and healthy herbal packs made by SEs, as well as groceries and Fair Trade products, at booths A38 to A41. Details of the participating SEs are in the Annex.
A spokesman for the HAD said the department has arranged for SEs to participate in the Carnival with a view to showcasing the quality and variety of SE products and encouraging more people to support SEs. He pointed out that public support is crucial for SEs to achieve their dual targets of caring for the underprivileged while sustaining their business.
The fourth Hong Kong Food Carnival, organised by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, will be open from 11am to 7.30pm from October 31 to November 8. The normal admission fee is $5 but admission is free for senior citizens aged 65 or above, persons with disabilities and children 1 metre in height or less.
