Chuang Dian Theatre to stage "Caesar" in December
*************************************************

Local theatre group Chuang Dian Theatre will stage its new production, entitled "Caesar", in December as one of the programmes in the New Energy Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Inspired by William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar", the adaptation "Caesar" was created by Hong Kong Drama Awards best director nominee Sin Chun-tung and directed by Hong Kong Theatre Libre best director nominee Octavian Chan. Sin will also perform with Ben So.

Caesar, who stands at the summit of power, ignores the fortune teller's warning and is assassinated by the opposition coalition headed by Brutus. After the demise of Caesar, Brutus realises that the so-called "justice" fails to defeat human nature.

Founded in 2010, Chuang Dian Theatre is one of Hong Kong's professional theatre companies. The company aims to promote local creativity, recreate and adapt classics and produce local plays and re-runs. It envisions diversifying the development of the theatrical arts through "creating" and "passing down traditions". The company has produced "Love Crazily", "The Death of Zukasky", "Momotaro is coming", "The Daddy Long Leg", "Diamond Hill Ghost" and "Dinner with Friends".

"Caesar" (in Cantonese) will be performed at 8pm from December 4 to 6 (Friday to Sunday) and at 3pm on December 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Black Box Theatre of Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets priced at HK$160 (free seating) are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20 per cent is offered for the New Energy Series and the group booking packages.
