LCSD to inject "New Energy" into local theatre in December
**********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold the New Energy Series again in December, bringing new works by three promising local theatre groups: Chuang Dian Theatre's "Caesar", Haverland's "Light Change" and Artocrite Theater's "Bad Time Stories".

Inspired by William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar", the adaptation "Caesar" was created by Hong Kong Drama Awards best playwright nominee Sin Chun-tung and Hong Kong Theatre Libre best director nominee Octavian Chan. Caesar, who climbs to supreme power, ignores a fortune teller's warning and is assassinated by a coalition of gangsters headed by Brutus. After the death of Caesar, Brutus realises that "justice" cannot fight human nature. "Caesar", to be performed in Cantonese, will contain coarse language, violent and smoking scenes, and is suitable for ages 12 or above. Details are as follows:

Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre
8pm, December 4 to 6 (Friday to Sunday)
3pm, December 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday)
Tickets: HK$160

"Light Change" is Haverland's third work on the theme of night, following "A Missing Story" and "White Night", starring Shirley Tsoi, Chen Ying-ching, Larry Ng and Chan Yin-chung. Night is a beginning but also an end. Four performers with different talents and backgrounds make use of drama, puppetry, mask and movement, travelling along the rift of consciousness from dream to reality and hustle to tranquility. "Light Change" will be performed in Cantonese. Details are as follows:

Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre
8pm, December 11 to 13 (Friday to Sunday)
3pm, December 12 and 13 (Saturday and Sunday)
Tickets: HK$160

The same bed, with three different stories, makes up Artocrite Theater's "Bad Time Stories". Stubbornness makes people lost and obsessed and leads them into despair. An unintentionally pregnant woman enters the operation room to seek an exit for her predicament. She bumps into another young lady, who is wishing for the arrival of a new life. Then, a wife believes that being patient with her husband can maintain love. The husband, however, only becomes worse. He hits her, and the wife keeps getting hurt every night. In the same place, a man suffers from depression; he wishes to fly freely in his mind, but he is troubled by the unpleasant incidents of his past. He does not know which is being trapped ¡V his body or his soul. "Bad Time Stories", to be performed in Cantonese, will contain adult elements, coarse language, violence, frightening scenes, nudity and smoking scenes, and is suitable for ages 12 or above. Details are as follows:

Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre
8pm, December 18 to 20 (Friday to Sunday)
3pm, December 19 and 20 (Saturday and Sunday)
Tickets: HK$160
