Hong Kong Observatory organises training course on weather observation
***********************************************************

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will organise a weather observation training course in November. Members of the public are welcome to join.

The course will be taught by experienced meteorological personnel of the HKO. The content is mainly about basic weather observation techniques and methods, such as observation and classification of clouds. Lecturers will also introduce various weather phenomena and hazards, as well as the interpretation of weather charts, to enhance participants' understanding of the weather so as to respond appropriately to its changes. During the course, participants will have opportunities to conduct weather observation and weather report coding. They will also learn to make use of the platforms on the Community Weather Observing Scheme (co-win.org/index.php/en or www.facebook.com/icwos) to share weather information.

The course consists of two sessions, to be held on November 7 and 14 from 9.30am to around 12.30pm at the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters respectively. Both sessions will be conducted in Cantonese, and the course fee is $130 per person.
