Licence of employment agency revoked
************************************

The Labour Department (LD) has recently revoked the licence of an employment agency (EA) named E-Maid Drive (located in Wan Chai) as the licensee provided false and misleading information to the LD in the licence application and is considered not to be a fit and proper person for operating an EA.

"Under the Employment Ordinance, the Commissioner for Labour (Commissioner) may refuse to issue or renew, or may revoke a licence of an EA if the EA operator has contravened any provision of Part XII of the said Ordinance, has knowingly furnished to the Commissioner any false or misleading information in connection with his application for the issue or renewal of the licence, or if he is considered not a fit and proper person to operate an EA," the spokesman said.

The LD reminds operators of EAs to conduct their business in compliance with the law and to provide accurate and up-to-date information to the LD, or they may risk their licences being revoked or their renewal refused.

For enquiries or complaints on unlicensed operation or overcharging jobseekers' commission by EAs, please call the Employment Agencies Administration of the LD at 2852 3535, or visit its office at 12/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong.
