The Transport Department (TD) today (October 7) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented this Saturday (October 10) and Sunday (October 11) to facilitate the holding of Hong Kong Cyclothon 2015.
Special traffic and transport arrangements on Saturday (October 10)

Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented on Hung Hom By-pass and Tsim Sha Tsui East from 4pm to facilitate the races:
1. the third and fourth lanes of the section of Salisbury Road (Hung Hom bound) between Nathan Road and Chatham Road South;
2. the section of Salisbury Road (Hung Hom bound) between Chatham Road South and Hong Chong Road;
3. the section of Salisbury Road (Star Ferry Pier bound) between Hung Hom Bypass and Nathan Road;
4. the fourth and fifth lanes of the section of Salisbury Road (Star Ferry Pier bound) between Nathan Road and Chatham Road South;
5. both sides of Hung Hom Bypass;
6. Mody Lane;
7. the section of Mody Road (both bounds) between Mody Lane and Science Museum Road; and
8. the section of Science Museum Road (Cheong Wan Road bound) between Salisbury Road and Science Museum Square;
In view of the road closure, a total of 15 bus routes and two green minibus routes will be diverted.
The loading and unloading bays for coaches on Salisbury Road opposite Mody Lane in Tsim Sha Tsui will also be suspended from 4pm. Vehicles exceeding 4 tonnes in weight will be banned from turning left onto Chatham Road South southbound onto Mody Road. Drivers of coaches are advised to drop off and pick up passengers on the southbound and northbound lanes of Chatham Road South or Granville Square.
Special traffic and transport arrangements on Sunday (October 11)

Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented at various locations in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon West and New Territories South from 1am on that day to facilitate the races. The races will start at the road section outside Hong Kong Cultural Centre and take route via the West Kowloon Highway, Tsing Sha Highway, Stonecutters Bridge, Nam Wan Tunnel, Cheung Tsing Highway, Tsing Ma Bridge, Cheung Tsing Highway, Cheung Tsing Tunnel, Tsing Kwai Highway, West Kowloon Highway before finishing at Kowloon Park Drive. During the races, the road closures will not affect vehicles from Kowloon or New Territories East to travel via Route 3 or Route 8 to the airport, Lantau Island, Ma Wan or New Territories West. Traffic on both sides of Ting Kau Bridge and Western Harbour Crossing will remain in operation.
In connection with the road closures for the event, a total of 110 bus routes and 11 green minibus routes will be diverted. Affected bus routes include cross-harbour routes using the Western Kowloon Highway; and airport routes and routes travelling through Yau Tsim Mong. The Star Ferry Bus Terminus, To Wah Road Bus Terminus in Jordan, Canton Road Bus Terminus and China Ferry Bus Terminus will be suspended and relocated.
Tourists going to the China Ferry Terminal or MTR Kowloon Station are advised to plan their journey early to avoid any delay caused by the road closures and traffic diversions.
The TD anticipates that the traffic at Ferry Street (Tsim Sha Tsui bound) and Lantau Link (Kowloon bound) will be very congested on Sunday morning (October 11). Members of the public planning to go to the affected area should avoid driving, use public transport services as far as possible and pay attention to the arrangements for route diversions and suspension of bus stops. They should also plan their journey early and allow more travelling time in case of unexpected delays. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion and take heed of police instructions.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as necessary. The public should follow the latest traffic news on TV and radio.
