The Kowloon City District Office (KCDO) and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (September 19) held market cleaning activity at the Hung Hom Market, G/F, Hung Hom Municipal Services Building to encourage market vendors and the public to keep the markets and community clean at all times.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So; the Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung; the Political Assistant to Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan; District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr William Tsui; and the District Environmental Hygiene Superintendent (Kowloon City) of the FEHD, Mr Ronny Cheng, participated in the events.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr So said the key to success of keeping Hong Kong clean is the tripartite partnership between officials, business sectors and the public. The Government organises the "Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign to arouse community awareness of personal and environmental hygiene. He encouraged market vendors and the public to work together to build a clean community.
After the ceremony, the guests, members of Hung Hom Area Committee and To Kwa Wan Area Committee and district personalities participated in the cleaning of communal facilities at Hung Hom Market and distributed cleaning packs to the vendors and the public, further promoting the importance of personal and community hygiene.
To support the clean-up campaign, the KCDO has held a series of activities including distributing cleaning packs to residents in the district, co-operated with the District Council and the community to promote the message of "Keep Hong Kong Clean" and provided assistance to clean the common areas of "three-nil" buildings in the district.
