Australian Chamber Orchestra and Sydney Dance Company to offer multifaceted programmes
*********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present three multifaceted performances by the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) and the Sydney Dance Company (SDC) in November, encompassing dance fusion and live music, a concert by the ACO's electro-acoustic ensemble, and an exhibition featuring a "virtual" orchestra.

"ACO Virtual" will be installed from November 11 to 14 (Wednesday to Saturday) at the Black Box Theatre of Kwai Tsing Theatre. Built using state-of-the-art technology, "ACO Virtual" features the projections of 13 musicians from the ACO surrounding the participants. Visitors may bring their instruments and play along with this virtual orchestra to immerse themselves in performances by Bach, Grieg, Smalley and Piazzolla or take helm of the ACO via a tablet controller inside the installation. Each virtual journey lasts 30 minutes. Admission is free.

"ACO Underground" is a concert to be staged at 8.30pm on November 12 (Thursday) at the Qube, PMQ, Aberdeen Street, Central. Nine members of the ACO will play acoustic and electric instruments and perform mixed sets that stretch from Bach and Penderecki to Nine Inch Nails. The concert also includes live vocals from Katie Noonan, with everything under the direction of founder, curator, violinist and singer Satu Vänskä. Tickets are priced at $320 (including a drink) with free seating.

"Illuminated" featuring the ACO and the SDC will be staged at 8pm on November 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday) at the Auditorium of Kwai Tsing Theatre. Across a trio of breathtaking dance pieces, "Variation 10", "Les Illuminations" and "Project Rameau", this programme offers a radiant marriage of movement and music. Born from the passionate choreography of Rafael Bonachela, the show brings together three captivating visions of dance. Ticket prices are $200, $300, $400 and $480.

Tickets are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
