Local premiere of FDF-financed film "Lost in Wrestling"
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Film Development Council:

The local premiere of the first 3D motion picture financed by the Film Development Fund (FDF), "Lost in Wrestling", will be held this evening (August 30). The production budget for the film was around $15 million, with government finance amounting to about $3.7 million.

The film, directed by Casey Chan and starring William Chan, Siqin Gaowa, Zhao Ke, Li Feier and Naoko Watanabe, is about a young Mongolian lady wrestler who travels to Japan for a women's tournament. While in Japan, she finds and helps her long-lost childhood friend, who has gone astray, to return to the right course.

In 2014, the film won the Perron Award (3D Feature Live Action) at the Sixth Edition of 3D Stereo MEDIA in Belgium and the Honour Film Award at the 23rd China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.

The Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC), Mr Wellington Fung, said, "3D film is attractive in the market. Through financing this film project, the Government wishes to encourage local film companies to make more new works of this type. By deploying more advanced technologies in local films, they can break away from the traditional 2D film production and enrich the Hong Kong film scene."

In May 2015, the Government further injected $200 million into the FDF to boost the volume of local film production and nurture film talent. Since 2007, 32 applications have been approved for financing under the FDF, involving total funding of about $88.02 million.
