The Judiciary announced today (August 20) that the Court of Final Appeal (CFA) will commence operations in its new premises at 8 Jackson Road, Central, Hong Kong, at 9am on September 7 (Monday).

Members of the public wishing to file any court documents in the CFA from that date should do so in the CFA Registry located on the Ground Floor of the building.

The building will provide adequate and appropriate facilities for the smooth and efficient functioning of the Court. Facilities will include two courtrooms, a Registry, a lawyers' common room and robing rooms, four consultation rooms and a press room. There will also be chambers for the CFA judges and office facilities for supporting staff.

The building has a long history and its exterior is a declared monument. Opened in 1912, it was used as the Supreme Court until 1984. From 1985 to 2011, it was used as the Legislative Council. In 2013, renovation works began in order to reconvert the building to a court, as the location of the CFA from September 7 onwards.
