The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (August 13, Adelaide time) met with leaders of the wine industry in Adelaide, Australia, to reinforce Hong Kong's position as Asia's wine hub.

Joined by delegates from Hong Kong's wine industry, Mr So paid a visit to the National Wine Centre of Australia in Adelaide. He met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grape and Wine Authority, Mr Andreas Clark, and the President of the South Australian Wine Industry Association, Mr Ben Gibson, to learn about the latest developments of the industry in Australia. Mr So said that Hong Kong, as the duty-free hub for wine in the region and the gateway to the growing wine market on the Mainland, will continue to be in the best position to bring South Australian wine into the Mainland market.

Mr So then went to Barossa Valley for a visit to a renowned winery, where he met with representatives from the Australian wine industry at a lunch hosted by the Chief Executive of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia, Mr Scott Ashby. Mr So had a fruitful discussion with industry leaders on how Hong Kong traders can help South Australian wines tap the Hong Kong and Mainland markets.

In the evening, Mr So will attend a dinner with the Governor of South Australia, Mr Hieu Van Le.

Mr So will attend an eye-dotting ceremony and a reception in Adelaide jointly hosted by the OzAsia Festival and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney tomorrow (August 14).
