Peter Li to share stage management experience in lecture series

     At the invitation of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), veteran stage management practitioner Peter Li will again hold a series of talks entitled "Lecture Series on Stage Management" in September and October.

     Li will share his valuable experience in the production of a stage show through the lecture series, a guided tour and newly added workshops this year.

     All talks of "Lecture Series on Stage Management (4)" will be conducted in Cantonese and will start at 7.45pm. The lectures for beginners will be held at the Exhibition Gallery of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Details are as follows:

September 8 (Tuesday)
Topic: "Stage facilities"

September 22 (Tuesday)
Topic: "The functions of the studio theatre and the black box theatre"

September 29 (Tuesday)
Topic: "Venue equipment and in-site set-up: co-ordination and operation"

October 6 (Tuesday)
Topic: "The connection between a designer and the theatre venue"

October 13 (Tuesday)
Topic: "How to coordinate and work with the technical team"

     A guided tour of the Auditorium Backstage will be held on October 21 (Wednesday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $60 for each of the above-mentioned talks and the guided tour.

     All advanced workshops will be held at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre. Tickets are priced at $120 per talk and details are as follows:

October 26 or November 2 (Monday)
Topic: "Stage Operation in General"

October 27 or November 3 (Tuesday)
Topic: "Understanding Lighting Installation and Control"

     Peter Li began his stage management career in 1978 as a stage lighting technician. During the 1980s and '90s, he was a lighting designer for various performing arts companies in Hong Kong, with productions ranging from drama and dance to opera. In 1992, he won the Best Lighting Design award at the first Hong Kong Drama Awards presented by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies. He joined the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in 1989 and has worked on the stage management team for 23 years. During his career, he has worked on musicals, classical operas and drama productions by international and local performing arts groups.

     "Lecture Series on Stage Management (4)" is presented by the LCSD. Tickets are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
