SFST continues visit to Sydney (with photos)

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, continues his visit to Sydney today (July 30, Sydney time). He attended the Boao Forum for Asia Sydney Conference in the morning and gave a speech to share insights on the latest economic outlook in Asia, challenges faced by the region and the impacts of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative on Asia.

     In the afternoon, Professor Chan had a meeting with the Australian Treasurer, Mr Joe Hockey, and they exchanged views on the economic outlook in the region.

     He then met with the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Mr Ian Narev, and the Deputy Chairman of the Australia Securities and Investment Commission, Mr Peter Kell, respectively, to discuss banking and regulatory issues of mutual concern.
 
     Later, he visited the Tyro FinTechHub and met representatives of financial technology start-ups to get to know more about their businesses.

     Professor Chan will end his visit to Sydney tomorrow (July 31, Sydney time). He will meet with the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Superannuation of Australia, Ms Pauline Vamos, followed by a courtesy call on the Chinese Consul General in Sydney, Mr Li Huaxin. Professor Chan will be back in Hong Kong tomorrow night (July 31, Hong Kong time).
