The Leisure and Cultural Services Department's "Summer Fun Party 2015 - Cute EliSHARKbeth Aquarium" will be held on Saturday and Sunday (July 18 and 19) from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai. The stadium will turn into a big aquarium offering a variety of stage performances and activities. Members of the public are invited to attend and play with Eli the shark and experience the pleasure of performing arts. Admission is free.
Entertaining performances will be held at the arena of the stadium with Tam Yuk-ying as the programme host. The programme will include the drama "Hands of the Mermaid", which follows the adventure of merman prince Toto and a young witch, and the improvised children's musical "What time is it, Mr Fox?" featuring interactive activities based on Cantonese nursery rhymes. There will also be different attractions such as magic, puppetry, children's Latin dance, harmonica and ukulele performances. Audience members may bring along their own instruments to jam with the performers.
The event will also feature a variety of educational yet fun-filled activities. These include 3D paper shark making, creating decorative sand bottles, marine creature handicrafts, Cantonese nursery rhymes and handbell workshops. In addition, magic drawing boards will also be set up for participants to experience drawing with other senses and without the aid of sight. Children are encouraged to bring along their picture books to share with others through a picture book exchange, which can help to cultivate an interest in reading as well as enhance book recycling. There will also be a block building corner with 3 000 blocks for participants to creatively set up a giant coral aquarium and a story-telling workshop for children to create their own storybooks.
