Transcript of remarks by CE at media session before ExCo (with video)
*********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session before the Executive Council meeting this morning (July 14):

Reporter: Yesterday, government officials explained that it's possible that all pipes in Kai Ching Estate might be replaced. Right now you're saying that you might be changing the joints, replacing the joints, probably where the soldering had problems. So can you clarify what would be done by the Government and ...?

Chief Executive: It is a matter of priority because the publicly accessible areas where these pipes with solder materials that have a lead content can be replaced quickly. Hidden pipes and also pipes that are parts of the internal units of the households will have to be replaced as well, so this is a question of trying to minimise the incident of lead being dissolved in the water where we can replace the joints or the pipes easily. We will do them straight away as soon as we can.
