The following is issued on behalf of the Financial Services Development Council:

A website design competition organised by the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) to raise students' awareness of career opportunities in financial services has been successfully concluded, and the winner was chosen today (July 6).

Under the theme "A Finance Career in Hong Kong", the competition was launched in March this year for university students, aiming to leverage young people's innovative ideas for an online portal to provide career information and advice. A total of 13 entries from seven universities was received.

A judging panel comprising the Chairman of the FSDC, Mrs Laura M Cha, and members of the Human Capital Committee and Policy Research Committee selected the winning design at the final presentation this afternoon. Five teams of students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Hong Kong were shortlisted for the final round of the competition. The winner was the team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology comprising Mr Luke Zhuang, Mr Samson Lo, Mr Tommy Sou and Mr Wong Man-on.

Commending the winning students for their outstanding performance, Mrs Cha said, "It was encouraging that most of the entries, which fully demonstrate the creativity of the participants, were of high quality. They have provided us insights on students' aspirations for a website dedicated to information on how to develop a finance career in Hong Kong. The ideas will be very useful for the FSDC when it formulates such a web portal in the future to help attract and prepare more talents for the financial services industry."

As prizes for the competition, the members of the winning team will receive part-time job offers from leading financial and professional services companies in Hong Kong.
