Safe and Joyful Crossing in Hong Kong Carnival cum Cycling Safety Kick Off Ceremony successfully held

The following is issued on behalf of the Road Safety Council:

     The Road Safety Council and the Kowloon West Road Safety Team of the Hong Kong Police Force jointly held the Safe and Joyful Crossing in Hong Kong Carnival cum Cycling Safety Kick Off Ceremony today (July 5) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre open area.

     Officiating at the ceremony were Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Kowloon West, Mr Chan Kwok-kee; the Regional Commander, Kowloon West, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, Mr Elkan Chan; the Yau Tsim Mong Assistant District Officer, Miss Jocelyn Ng; the Chairlady of the Yau Tsim Mong Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee, Ms Kwan Sau-ling; and the Chairman of the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong, Mr Arthur Lai.

     The event attracted a large turnout from the community to enjoy a rich programme of performances, such as joint music and foot drill performance by the Hong Kong Police Silver Band and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol of Dominic Savio Kindergarten (Olympic Branch), an artistic cycling demonstration by the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps Bicycle Demonstration Team, a performance by the band AnyThinG and a Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School (Primary School) Wind Band music performance. A Classic Car Exhibition and games were also held, and road safety leaflets were distributed by the Road Safety Team of Kowloon West Region. The event spread road safety messages to road users and cyclists successfully.
