Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session after attending the launching ceremony of activities in celebration of the 18th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today (July 1):
Reporter: Will the National Security Law affects Hong Kong's autonomy?
Chief Executive: It is a piece of national law. It doesn't apply to Hong Kong. Naturally Hong Kong is part of the country, and has the responsibility and obligation to protect the security of the country, but this is done through local legislation in accordance with Article 23 of the Basic Law. And this, Hong Kong SAR Government does not have any plan to enact Article 23 local legislation.
