Stage 3 Community Engagement for Hung Shui Kiu New Development Area launched
***************************************************

The Planning Department and the Civil Engineering and Development Department today (June 17) launched the Stage 3 Community Engagement for the Hung Shui Kiu (HSK) New Development Area (NDA) Planning and Engineering Study to gauge the public's views on the Recommended Outline Development Plan (RODP). Members of the public are welcome to participate.

The overall objective of the Study is to formulate a comprehensive plan for the development and implementation of the HSK NDA together with the supporting infrastructure to help meet medium- to long-term housing and economic needs. The Stage 2 Community Engagement was completed in late 2013. Taking into account the public's views received, the planning and engineering considerations, and the results of technical assessments, the RODP for the HSK NDA has been formulated.

Apart from being a major source of housing land supply providing a total of about 60,100 new flats, the HSK NDA, being strategically located in the Northwest New Territories, is positioned as a "Regional Economic and Civic Hub". It will provide about 150,000 employment opportunities. The HSK NDA will be a new-generation new town for the Hong Kong people accommodating a total population of about 215,000 and offering development spaces for various housing, commercial and special industrial uses as well as government, institution and community facilities to serve the population in the NDA and the nearby Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts. The NDA will also be a green city with various green initiatives.

The Stage 3 Community Engagement will last for three months. Activities including a public forum, briefings and roving exhibitions will be conducted. Details of the activities and engagement documents are available on the Study's website (www.hsknda.gov.hk). Members of the public are invited to send in their comments on or before September 16 through the following channels:
