The Home Affairs Department appeals to registered electors of the Yin Kong Resident Representative Election of the Sheung Shui District Rural Committee to exercise their right to vote in the Rural By-election to be held this Sunday (June 14).
Forty-two Rural Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and 13 valid nominations were received during the nomination period.
There are two candidates running for the Resident Representative post of Yin Kong of the Sheung Shui District Rural Committee. Polling will be held for the village.
Eleven candidates were returned uncontested in their villages to be the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Tai Shui Hang and Kau Liu Ha and Resident Representatives of Keung Shan, Upper and Luk Wu; Che Keng Tuk; Kau Liu Ha; Lin Au, Lei Uk; Pak Ngau Shek Ha Tsuen; Shui Wo; Tai Yeung Che; Tsuen Wan Sam Tsuen; and Yeung Uk.
No valid nominations were received for 30 Rural Representative vacancies of 29 villages, namely Lo So Shing, Po Toi, Yung Shue Ha, Sok Kwu Wan, Sha Lo Wan, Chek Lap Kok, On Lok Tsuen (East), Lai Chi Wo, Luk Keng Chan Uk, Luk Keng Wong Uk, Tsung Yuen Ha, Lung Mei, Ma Nam Wat, O Long, Tung A, Long Ke, Wong Keng Tsai, Tai Tan, Uk Tau, Ma Po Mei, Shuen Wan Wai Ha, Tai Po Kau, Tin Liu Ha, Tong Sheung Tsuen, Sai Lau Kok, Shek Wai Kok, Tsing Fai Tong, Tin Fu Tsai and Tuen Mun Kau Hui.

Polling will be held from noon to 7pm on June 14. Electors are required to bring their identity documents to the designated polling station as specified in the polling notice.
There will be arrangements to facilitate remanded persons and detainees who are registered electors to cast their votes in the by-election.
Arrangements will be made for electors who are remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies (other than the Correctional Services Department) to cast their votes at the dedicated polling station located at Mei Tin Community Hall, 9 Mei Mun Lane, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, New Territories. The polling hours are from noon to 7pm.
If necessary, reserved dedicated polling stations will also be set up in the 21 penal institutions for electors under the custody of the Correctional Services Department to cast their votes from 1pm to 4pm.
