The Legislative Council Public Accounts Committee (PAC) conducted a visit to the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and the Government Flying Service (GFS) today (May 23) to understand their operations, as well as the existing and new Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS).
Members first visited GFS and toured its Hanger and Air Command and Control Centre. Members also took the opportunity to meet with the union members to learn more about their daily work.
Members then left for CAD and were briefed on the operation of the existing ATMS and the testing of the new ATMS by representatives of CAD. Members also visited the existing Air Traffic Control Centre and the new Air Traffic Control Building.
PAC held public hearings on "Operation of the Government Flying Service" (Chapter 2) of the Director of Audit's Report No.64 and "Administration of the air traffic control and related services" (Chapter 4) of the Director of Audit's Report No.63 to better understand the issues raised in the two Chapters.
Members who participated in the visit included Chairman of PAC, Mr Abraham Shek, Deputy Chairman, Mr Paul Tse, and members Mr Alan Leong, Mr Wong Yuk-man and Mr Kenneth Leung.
