The Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) today (May 18) released its annual report for the period from April 2014 to March 2015.
In 2014/15, the FSDC released seven reports covering subjects which are of paramount importance to sharpening the competitiveness of Hong Kong's financial services industry. These include leveraging Mainland and Renminbi opportunities, enhancing Hong Kong's IPO and equity trading platforms, promoting Hong Kong's financial services, and developing human capital in finance.
The FSDC also sponsored and participated in a number of local, Mainland and overseas flagship promotional campaigns, including the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, the Pan-PRD Hong Kong Trade Symposium in Guangzhou, and the "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" campaign in Paris, to promote Hong Kong's position as a key global financial centre.
The Chairman of the FSDC, Mrs Laura M Cha, said, "In the last fiscal year, the FSDC built upon the solid foundation established in our first year of operation and continued our efforts in various aspects to foster growth in Hong Kong's financial services industry.
"Looking ahead, the FSDC will strengthen efforts in articulating to overseas and Mainland interlocutors the advantages of Hong Kong's financial services industry and its role in the international financial network. Another area of concern of the FSDC in the coming year will be the development of human capital in the industry.
"I am thankful to the incumbent and past members for their contribution and dedication towards the work of the FSDC over the past two years. The FSDC will continue to put relentless efforts into formulating proposals and initiatives to support the sustainable development of the industry as well as elevating Hong Kong's position as Asia's preeminent international financial centre," added Mrs Cha.

About the FSDC
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government established the FSDC in 2013 as a high-level, cross-sectoral advisory body to engage the industry in formulating proposals to promote the further development of Hong Kong's financial services industry and to map out the strategic direction for development.
The FSDC is underpinned by five committees, namely the Policy Research Committee; Mainland Opportunities Committee; New Business Committee; Market Development Committee; and Human Capital Committee.
