**********************************************************

In March 2015, the Narcotics Bureau of the Hong Kong Police targeted a transnational drug trafficking syndicate active in Asia and instituted a joint investigation with the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security (NCB MPS) of China and the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police (NCID RMP). In April and May, a joint-investigation codenamed ¡§LASERFINDER¡¨ has then commenced.

On April 1, NCB MPS conducted an arrest operation in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. A total of 102 kg of ICE was seized and six Mainland syndicate members were arrested.

On May 12, NCID RMP raided eleven locations in Malaysia. During the operation, 15 Malaysian syndicate members (including the syndicate head) and two Bangladesh syndicate members were arrested. Police also seized about 220 kg of ICE, 132 kg of Ecstasy and 18 kg of Ketamine. The retail price of the drugs in Malaysia is about HKD $110 million.

Investigations in Hong Kong are under way.

Narcotics Bureau would continue to maintain close co-operation with other law enforcement agencies to interdict the flow of illicit drugs into Hong Kong and to combat international drug trafficking activities.
