SCED meets Governor of Heilongjiang Province (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, met the visiting Governor of Heilongjiang Province, Mr Lu Hao, today (May 6) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

     Mr So welcomed Mr Lu and his delegation from Heilongjiang Province coming to Hong Kong to hold seminars promoting business between the two places. Heilongjiang Province possesses rich natural resources and is an important trade partner of Hong Kong in the northeast of the Mainland, Mr So said. Heilongjiang Province has development potential in various aspects, providing a wide range of business opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises, he added.

     Mr So also spoke with Mr Lu on the Hong Kong Government's efforts in developing a vibrant start-up ecosystem in Hong Kong. He highlighted areas in which Hong Kong has unique advantages in attracting Internet of Things (IoT) entrepreneurs, start-ups and investors to Hong Kong.

     After the meeting, Mr So and Mr Lu visited PMQ in Central, the former Police Married Quarters transformed into a creative hub with studios and event venues. They visited the co-working spaces and IoT accelerator in PMQ to learn more about the operation of start-ups, as well as the reasons for them starting their businesses in Hong Kong. They also toured shops showcasing products designed by emerging Hong Kong designers.
