Our 18 DistrictsĄPHappy Fiesta #Sha Tin Park to be launched tomorrow

     The Home Affairs Department (HAD) will launch the two-day event "Our 18 DistrictsĄDHappy Fiesta #Sha Tin Park"  tomorrow (May 2). Members of the public are invited to join the event at Sha Tin Park, the Amphitheatre of Sha Tin Park and Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza.

     The event aims to bring joy and relaxation to participants by showcasing the vitality, creativity and the unique cultural essence of the community under six themes, namely All About Sports, Youth Got Talent, Show Time, Cultural Showcase, YouthFever and Laugh & Leisure.

     Under the theme All About Sports, participants will have the opportunity to experience different kinds of sport including fencing, rugby, rock climbing, rowing, lawn bowls and mini car-driving. Display boards on the 5th Hong Kong Games will also be set up to bring enthusiasm for sports to the community.

     Participants can relax on the park's lawns and enjoy a variety of performances presented by over a dozen youth groups under the theme Youth Got Talent, including dance, singing, music, acrobatics, magic, band performances and more.

     In addition to artistic and traditional performances by the Arts Associations and Rural Committees in the New Territories, the Cultural Showcase-themed programmes also include the Jockey Club Community Arts Biennale 2015 presented by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, where participants can appreciate creative artworks and take part in workshops.

Featured under the theme Show Time are large-scale dance performances by the Hong Kong Dance Company, a symphonic performance by the Shatin Philharmonic Orchestra, Cantonese opera, a musical, band shows, magic and more.
 
Horse lovers should not miss the photo opportunities with ponies and the horse riding event on May 2 under the Laugh & Leisure theme. A wishing tree, free snacks and souvenirs will also be arranged by the organiser.

Tomorrow evening, the musical concert "YouthFever" will be staged at the Amphitheatre of Sha Tin Park at 7.30pm, where participants can enjoy enchanting performances by artistes including Nancy Sit, C AllStar, Frederick Cheng, Jinny Ng and youth groups under the starlit sky.

     With "Our 18 districts" as the theme of the campaign, the HAD has lined up hundreds of community activities for all ages to relax and enjoy themselves. The HAD has also designed a special "Our 18 districts" logo, featuring a tree pattern formed by citizens and leaves representing the 18 districts to symbolise unity and caring for our community.

     The launch of the "Our 18 Districts" campaign by "Our 18 DistrictsĄDHappy Fiesta #Sha Tin Park" will be followed by large-scale activities in various districts. These include "Fun Fest in the Park: A Celebration of Love and Integration" to be held at the soccer pitch, Lai Chi Kok Park Phase I, on May 10, and "NT West SUN and Fun @ Tuen Mun Beach Festival 2015" to be held at Golden Beach, Tuen Mun, from May 23 to 24.
