SHA attends exhibition on Professor Jao Tsung-i's artistic attainments in Beijing (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (April 28) attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition on Professor Jao Tsung-i's artistic attainments in Beijing.

     Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Tsang said, "Professor Jao is a famous scholar in the world. He has made significant contributions in various academic fields. He is also a distinguished writer and artist. With his remarkable success, Professor Jao is regarded as the dean of a generation. Hong Kong is the base from which Professor Jao has pursued knowledge, and he has reflected the spirit of its culture in his work. It is a blessing for our city to have Professor Jao and we all take pride in him."

     The exhibition on Professor Jao Tsung-i's artistic attainments is hosted by the National Museum of China and co-hosted by a few organisations, including the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The exhibition will be held in the National Museum of China and will exhibit more than 100 paintings of various genres by Professor Jao, as well as around 40 of his calligraphy works, more than 20 works made in collaboration with contemporary renowned artists and artworks derived from his calligraphy and paintings. A documentary filmed by CCTV will also be screened in the exhibition hall. The exhibition will run from April 29 to June 12.

     This morning, Mr Tsang met with the Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, Mr Liu Peng, to discuss sports development. At noon, he also met with members of the national youth association from the financial sector. Tomorrow morning (April 29), Mr Tsang will meet with representatives of the All-China Youth Federation before returning to Hong Kong in the afternoon.
