Bus parade solicits public support for universal suffrage proposals (with photos/video)
**********************************************************

Members of the Task Force on Constitutional Development, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam; the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; and the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, together with about 30 politically appointed officials took part in a bus parade this afternoon (April 25) to publicise the proposals on the method for selecting the Chief Executive by universal suffrage put forward by the Government and to appeal for public support for the proposals.

An open-top bus carrying banners with slogan "2017: Make it happen!" set off from Central at about 2.30 pm. The bus toured various districts on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories, including Kennedy Town, Lok Fu, Tai Wai, Sha Tin and Tai Po and then back to Central.

Mrs Lam said, "There are about two months to go before the proposals are put to vote in the Legislative Council (LegCo). We will take every opportunity to reach out to the public, explain the proposals to them and win their support.

"I call on the general public to support the Government's proposals and urge LegCo members to shoulder their responsibilities to pass the proposals in LegCo so that Hong Kong's democratic development can  continue to move forward."

In the coming weeks, officials will continue to reach out to people from all walks of life through various channels to solicit their support for the proposals.
