STH to visit Beijing and Hamburg

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will leave for Beijing this evening (April 13).

     Professor Cheung will meet officials of the Civil Aviation Administration of China tomorrow morning (April 14) to exchange views on aviation development. He will also pay a courtesy call on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.

     He will return to Hong Kong at night and will depart for Hamburg, Germany, immediately to join members of the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council delegation there to promote Hong Kong's maritime services.

     Professor Cheung will lead the Hong Kong delegation in meetings with the German Shipowners' Association, the International Union of Marine Insurance and the German Shipbrokers Association. The delegation will also visit the Port of Hamburg.

     Professor Cheung will give a keynote speech at a business luncheon organised in collaboration with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Before returning to Hong Kong, together with the Hong Kong delegation, he will have lunch with local maritime business leaders to strengthen ties with the industry.

     The Director of Marine, Mr Michael Wong, and Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport), Ms Julina Chan, will accompany Professor Cheung on the visit.

     Professor Cheung will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on April 18. During his absence, Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, will be Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
